Early 19th C. Miniature Portrait Watercolor on Ivory Of Gentleman

$750.00

An early 19th century miniature portrait watercolor on ivory of a distinguished elderly gentleman. His white hair and regal bearing denote a person of importance. He is wearing an ivory colored vest and is seated in a red chair.

The portrait is set into a leather-embossed case (missing front leather) with a gilded tin lining and suspension ring. We could find no signature on the piece, but he is very well executed and the colors are in vivid contrast to the dark background. The rear retains its old paper backing, apparently an fragment of a letter or other notation. The painting is in very good condition, attributed tto Phillipe Abraham Petieslas.
